Currently ranked at number one in the world, Brian Aragon is widely respected as one of the greatest; not only in recent years, but throughout the history of blading altogether. For years now Brian has been consistently putting out mind-blowing edits with nothing but a steady progression in ability. Whether you like his skating or not, there is no denying that his style is nothing less than precise and smooth. He flows like water and hits tricks with the precision of a sniper. This will be remembered well after he retires from the sport.
As a child, Brian was keen on many sports, though skating soon became his main focus. His first sponsor was a small shop in Colorado called BC Surf and Sport. He considered the most fluid and progressive skaters to be his biggest influence; Vinny Minton, Brian Shima, Louie Zamora, and Aaron Feinberg are some of the names he has mentioned, while Dustin Latimer’s section in Brain Fear Gone was cited as his favorite edit.
Brian cites Vinny Minton’s 'Swag' edit is his most esteemed edit in which he was involved in along with his entry into the WRS 'Uploaded' competition. The latter edit won him first place in the competition and was filmed in only 5 days by Phil Long.
In the city where Brian grew up, Brighton Colorado, a public skate park was named after him. Brian said that this was his proudest achievement: “It was such an awesome feeling, cutting the ribbon with the mayor to open a brand new skatepark and seeing how proud my parents and friends were, it’s a moment I'll never forget.”
Over the past three years Brian has placed in over twenty WRS competitions, eleven of which have been first. He currently holds 17,500 points. Today he is one of the busiest professionals in the industry and unlike some pros who disappear from time-to-time Brian regularly appears in edits with new fresh manoeuvres, always with style.

When Daniel Kinney threw the first ever Bittercold Show Down in 2001 the event was just a one-day event with 150 competitors, had no extra stage for spectators, no additional ramp set-ups - the event didn't even have an own website.
Ever since the first rolling videos hit the market in the early '90's, certain releases – such as 'The Hoax' and VG installments, or later published milestones like 'Coup de Tat' and 'Brain Fear Gone' – have changed not only the way people tend to look at and think about the specific scenes and rollerbladers portrayed, but also rolling culture itself. Even though I think it's too early to say what long term effect the release of GC.1 will have on the rolling world it undoubtedly has heightened my expectations regarding filming and video graphic techniques. Adding the extremely high production quality to the skills of one of the best teams in rollerblading yet, the math basically does itself. The Ground Control team video represents the passion and hard work Jon Elliott and his crew have put into their dream, resulting in one of the most spectacular videos to date.
Contributors from Be-Mag come from all over the world. In fact, one of the aspects that make this media outlet so successful is the joint effort given from the rolling world covering every rideable inch of the globe. Aggressive skating, while seemingly non-existent to the pop-culture world, has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few years. The dynamic has changed in so many ways since the early 1990s that each aspect in growth of style, amplitude, technology, culture, etc. has gone through it’s own little piece of the overall revolution.
As an inline skater i've always felt like i'm part of a secret society, and this event is our annual gathering. I feel a natural connection to the fellow skaters that makes me feel at home.
Our contributor Vincent Morretino sent us some snaps from his Bitter Cold Showdown 2012 experience. Vincent covered some of the skating and also gives you a glimpse on what being at BCSD felt like this year. Thanks, Vincent!
Alex Broskow has already shown in the past that he has got what it takes to be a world-class competitor. With podiums at some of the most important rolling events around the globe including NYC Street Invite, Blading Cup, Montreal Classic, World Rolling Series Finals, high expectations are usually placed on Alex. Alex was able to meet the high expectations this year.
The morning of Laced was freezing cold. While the rest of England was gripped in snow, it seemed to just rain ice in Liverpool. No amount of layers could save you. Inside, Rampworx was no better and we clung to our cups of coffee for the illusion of warmth.
