The World Rolling Series has introduced a new addition to their already successful competitive format. 'Uploaded', a online video format, allows competitors from around the world to upload their own edits in order to win prizes and points within WRS. It combines the concepts of mass generated edits over the recent years with people who want to compete in a different scope. There are those who express their riding best in front of crowds under the pressure of direct competition, which in the past have been the ones able to succeed in a competitive nature. Now, those who work best in front of the camera at their own pace have the opportunity to find competitive success where it did not exist before. WRS representatives Daniel Kinney and Kato Mateu got together with Be-Mag with the intention of answering some questions and cracking open all that is 'Uploaded.'
Danny's not a robot, he can take a fall, but he is a machine that shows no fear. His skating is the sort of skating that will get you the enders for two different montages in Be-Mag's 'Featuring The World' DVD a while back. It's the sort of skating where in a contest if he lands the big trick he's going for it'll win the prize for best trick of the day, and if he has a section in a video it'll be the most talked about section in that video. Not that long ago an edit was shared on the web featuring some old footage of Danny skating in his homeland of New Zealand, and the universally positive response throughout the skating world was a testament to his ability to defy what we've come to expect in a person's skating. He's a stuntman that takes risks, and if the spot doesn't call for a stunt he'll still throw down the hardest tricks he can think of. He won't stop until he's landed them, even with no camera around to capture it. Just be grateful Craig was there to capture this session, at the new Rampit Skatepark in Melbourne. But this is only a minute – he can go all night at this place, or any place for that matter. And then there's his Seven Rats part, which is a whole different ball park...
Matthias was obviously my first choice when choosing who should be featured in 'Seven Rats'. The first project I filmed with Matthias was his Rollerblade Solo Collective edit, which we pumped out in only about 5 sessions, this made me realize how quickly this guy can stack some decent clips. We became good friends through filming and skating together for the past year and a half which made it extremely easy to work with him on this project. Matthias' section is filmed mostly in the central business district of Melbourne, which gives the section a more urban and architectural feel, the same aesthetic of Matthias' previous video sections/ the Clip series. His creativity and effortless style is something that can only be gained through years of experience, as Jon Julio once said about Dustin Latimer 'He can make anything look good'. Matthias has been a blessing for the scene here in Melbourne, and a blessing for rollerblading in general. This 'left-over' edit is a collection of clips we filmed that weren't intended for use in his section, you will have to buy the DVD to see what he can really do.
It’s Friday the 22nd of April, time for the world premiere of Australian DVD ‘Seven Rats’. It was in a dark and filthy cobblestone alleyway right in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD that the red carpet was rolled out for all who attended. The appropriately named ‘Rancho Notorious’ was the venue for the evening. Inside on the first level was an old warehouse converted into a gallery showcasing talented Melbourne artists, but this didn’t take importance away from the bar which was serving the finest local and imported beers, wine, and an enormous cheese platter (real rat food). Like most who attended, Josh Clarke strolled in with his eyes set on the bar. The event and venue was one that Melbourne rollerbladers had not experienced before for a premiere, and everyone knew this meant something special.
If you asked me 4 months ago if Robbie Pitts would have a section in ‘Seven Rats’, I would have been hesitant in saying yes. We had submitted all of the footage I filmed of him in the past year for ‘Valo 4 Life’, and I didn’t have a single clip of him left for ‘Seven Rats’. When he returned from America, I filmed Robbie almost everyday for 3 months, and his persistence, and belief in the project carried him through to the end, delivering an amazing video section. He truly has put a lot of effort into getting his section done, from filming arbitrarily after work/university, to sitting in on the long editing process. His section was the first that I finished editing, wrapping it up within 5 hours of getting his final trick on camera. Working with Robbie was a great experience; his outlook on rollerblading is something that will always stay with me. Thanks for all the great memories Robbie!

This years Victorian Inline Titles is back from the country skatepark of Ballarat and into the big smoke of Melbourne, Australia. Riverslide or 'City Park' which has hosted previous Australian titles events, which has seen the likes of Chris Haffey and Brian Aragon win crowns, is the chosen venue. Isaac is the most humble guy I've ever met. He has the trick vocabulary and ease of a 'pro', but instead chooses not to be even slightly sponsored. Underestimated is an understatement. -Craig Smith
