Contributors from Be-Mag come from all over the world. In fact, one of the aspects that make this media outlet so successful is the joint effort given from the rolling world covering every rideable inch of the globe. Aggressive skating, while seemingly non-existent to the pop-culture world, has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few years. The dynamic has changed in so many ways since the early 1990s that each aspect in growth of style, amplitude, technology, culture, etc. has gone through it’s own little piece of the overall revolution.
BCSD 2012 finally going down this weekend. Skaters from all over the US – and even some from the rest of the world – embark upon the trip to Detroit for the event. We took the chance to talk to an almost legendary BCSD competitor, Franco Cammayo. Always top-ranked in the competition and always highly motivated!
Brian Moore is about to release his new DVD 'The City Never Sleeps'. After more than two years of filming for the video and a $10,000 investment Brian has finally come to an end! Watching the teasers and considering the positive feedback the film got after its premiere at the Hoedown Contest in Dallas you can be sure that this release will get your ass up from the sofa and strap on your skates. Although Brian said that he did this video mostly for himself, we think that this video is made for everyone. But decide for yourself: an in depth interview, two trailers and Brady Johnston's section from the video should provide a good basis for your decision on whether or not to get the flick! All of this after the jump…
This weekend we saw the 11th annual Mile High Battle commence as bladers threw down everything they had. This phrase might seem too commonly used when media outlets in the blade world discuss a competition that went on. But, from this writer’s eyes down to the fingertips that press the insignificant keys on a laptop, this competition was all but common. It was an event that saw the likes of Colorado’s top skaters, visiting competitors Brian Aragon and Jeph Howard, who Razors flew in for this special trip, up-and-comers from surrounding states, and a line-up of spots that seemed peculiar and fitting. Some features that at first glance seemed ordinary for a competition like this spawned the battleground for one of the most heated battles that included a front-flip out of a sweatstance.
This weekend marks the 12th annual end-of-the-summer festivity with Colorado’s biggest blading meet. The Colorado Road Trip was started with intent on leading a small crew across various parks throughout Colorado. At the beginning, where just seven individuals made it out, this event has quickly grown to what this year expects to bring nearly one hundred bladers to the Rocky Mountain State from all over. This is the time of year that the usual desolate skateparks of the Colorado highlands, typically littered with a small handful of skateboarders, a biker or two, a few children tooling around on a scooter, and in rarity a roller, get transformed into a celebration in a way that brings rollerblading just a little bit closer to the wild west. The days are spent shredding two or more skateparks while in between the road tripping frequents various stops along the Colorado River for bridge jumping and car surfing. The nights are filled with stories of their own as rollers become frontiersmen, gathering around camp fires in the desert sharing experiences, camaraderie, and of course some fine beverages.
Ben is a veteran in our sport, has pulled some of the burliest stunts, been around the block more times than even he can remember, and now in his wiser days he is putting enlightenment before excitement when taking a look at all that skating and life around him has become. With the relaunch of Chimera and a fresh start in Berlin he has stepped into a life of inspiration.
Recently, we had a chance to sit down with Brian Aragon in Encinitas, CA and discuss his involvement with rollerblading in the X-Games this year. He has been working diligently with X-mini towards the goal of bringing skating back into an X-Games spotlight and gaining what many feel is some long overdue publicity. X-mini, a company who has sponsored events like the Chaz Sands Invitational, FISE and Winterclash, approached Brian in Shanghai at Asian X-Games to discuss the possibility of getting him and a team involved to some capacity with X-Games 17. Without hesitation this idea quickly got rolling into what could be the next big break for rollerblading.
Whether it’s out for a bite to eat in Milan, catching some sun in San Diego, or living a partier’s dream in Barcelona, Adrien’s getting spotted in more places than Where’s Waldo. Recently, we had a chance to catch up with him and discuss what it has been like living out of a suitcase for such a long time and being dubbed 'The Traveler'.
This footage was shot at various resorts throughout the 2011/2012 season. Due to a separated shoulder Dave's season was cut short before he and Brandon Enouf were able to film their annual end-of-the-season edit. This is a collection of shots captured while Dave was still able to ride. Our fellow Be-Mag colleague and writer Dave Bloom, who also rides for the Revel8 AM Team, just released another episode of The Junk Show. Episode 2.5 takes you back to California for some good times, in the snow, on skiboards. Unfortunately Dave took a bad fall and is put out for six weeks. We wish him all the best and hope he gets better soon! In the mean time, sit back, grab something to drink, eat, or smoke, whatever you like, and enjoy this sweet episode!
Brian Moores video 'The City Never Sleeps' will be dropping in the near future. Here is an impressive little Promo Edit of Fritz Peitzner.
They're back at it again. The Junk Show team breaks out the camera and heads south. Brandon Enouf decided to venture down to Dave Bloom's side of Colorado for some good times on the Western Slope. First up, Durango Mountain Resort, for some playtime on the smaller resort features. After that, it was time to head out to some real fun at Telluride Ski Resort, the highest summit resort in North America. Come, get dirty and steezy with the two troubles makes from the west. Cuddle up with a honey, set the lights low, pour a glass of merlot, turn up the speakers, and take it sloooooow.
The Junk Show is back! In the first episode of their second season, the Junk Show will take you from beautiful Loveland Pass to Vail owned resorts Keystone and the legendary A-Basin. With tons of snow to shred, the lime green features at A-Basin, and the jib-plentiful opening weekend park of Keystone, you know that you've got some entertainment on your hands. And, if that wasn't enough, these snollerbladers to get back to their roots and hold a ledge sesh indoors at the Woordward Skatepark in Copper, CO. Package this all and blow it up right from the start with a little end-of-summer montage and you got yourself some stoke to get the adrenaline pumping for that upcoming session today. Who knows, you may even want to try out some skiboards this year, too. But, just remember that Hollywood prefers to call them snollerbladers. Maybe because he's a skate OG, or because it really annoys people on the slopes. Either way, peep this banger and hang tight for more to come including a guest appearance from Nils Jansons, Franco Cammayo, and the skiboarding legend himself, Nicky Adams. Enjoy!
Canadian Rollerblader and Be-Mag contributor Aj DeLong is also deep in the skiing world. We recently featured a skiboarding edit of AJ. This edit now got nominated for best Pro Edit of the year.
Revel8 FlowTeam riders Dave Bloom and Brandon Enouf shred Breckenridge, Colorado's parks over the last weekend of the 2010-2011 ski season.
Revel8 Skiboards presents "The Junk Show" Episode Five - The Festival of the Shreds. Looks like fun, check it out!
