After my friends and colleagues from Hedonskate arrived late Friday evening we woke up to beautiful sunshine on a Saturday morning with a great weekend waiting for us. Instead of explaining step by step what went down during the weekend, I decided to ask Dominik Wagner, Jojo Jacobi, Bart Laubsch and Basza Takemura to write about some of their personal experiences from the event that was a beautiful weekend full of blading, good weather and friends!
Contributors from Be-Mag come from all over the world. In fact, one of the aspects that make this media outlet so successful is the joint effort given from the rolling world covering every rideable inch of the globe. Aggressive skating, while seemingly non-existent to the pop-culture world, has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few years. The dynamic has changed in so many ways since the early 1990s that each aspect in growth of style, amplitude, technology, culture, etc. has gone through it’s own little piece of the overall revolution.
Dave is one of these metropolitan suburb kids that have the rare talent of using their skates in a very natural way; it seems that this kid has concrete in his veins. He doesn't slam, he falls like a cat, always landing on his feet. He has the ability to grind longer and faster than most of us. Growing up in one of the toughest neighbourhoods in Berlins East End, 'Marzahn', Dave found a way to use Rollerblading as an art of moving and stepping out of the grey everyday life Marzahns monotonous architectured slabs entail. Combining raw rail skating, parkour and fluid ramp skating as his basics, he got a wide range of tricks and possibilities to push his own limits. And this is just the beginning...
Mirek Ragan... don't even try to put him into any categories! Born in 1982, he is one of these old cats that grew up rollerblading from day one. Hoax 1 and 2 changed his life and if you ever have the opportunity to visit him in his sweet appartement in Katowice, Poland you'll be able to notice that he has every single DVD/VHS ever produced in the rolling industry. Behind his blue eyes you can sense that he is thinking of Rollerblading 24/7 – not only from the perspective as the owner of Hedonskate, but also as a dedicated rollerblader! Mirek is and will always try to push the sport into the right direction. To sum it up: Mirek is a very positive, funny and handsome person always looking at the bright side of life!
It's official: Gabriel Hyden will receive the next Chimera pro wheel. While this is a good thing in general, Chimera takes it to a new level and wants you to decide which design they should choose. Take advantage of this unique opportunity and cast your vote! If you don't want to participate in the decision-making you might as well want to watch the promotional edit Gabriel put together for this.
Earlier this year I had the great chance to spend three weeks in Portugal. I started my trip in Porto and stayed there at Marcello Oliveira's place. After some days of skating and filming for another project I went down south to meet up with Bruno Santos, who's the owner of Rove Skateshop in Leiria and made this little interview with him. We had great a time and it was really nice to be involved in his daily life!
Ben is a veteran in our sport, has pulled some of the burliest stunts, been around the block more times than even he can remember, and now in his wiser days he is putting enlightenment before excitement when taking a look at all that skating and life around him has become. With the relaunch of Chimera and a fresh start in Berlin he has stepped into a life of inspiration.
The new Be-Mag Spring 2011 clothing line has been launched under the well-known slogan "Spread the Word". This is more than just a slogan, more than just a one-liner on a t-shirt, it’s our message that we delivered right from the beginning. It's the philosophy of each skater supporting the act of rollerblading. "Spread the Word" stands for a certain attitude in life and captures how important Rollerblading is to you. Wearing this collection represents your commitment to the sport and shows you are living Rollerblading everyday to the fullest.
The tradeshow is officially over, loads of people hit the booths.

UCON dropped their Spring/Summer 2012 Silhouette line not long ago and it has been all the hype on fashion blogs ever since. Modeblock.com checked in with its designer Dirk Oelmann, who is also responsible for the clothing Be-Mag produces.
The UCON Silhouette line differentiates itself clearly through a fundamental ethos of subtlety. Unique clothing focusing on innovative cuts and solid materials, highlighting the male silhouette. The pieces are characterized by their clean and body-conscious form. Silhouette is not for those who choose to mask their identity behind random clothing, its for people who prefer a clean, minimalistic aesthetic mixed with a certain sense of unique fashion.
'Dedicated' is a flick about the Berlin blading szene. It's dedicated to rollerblading, to the city of Berlin, and to the people I go skate with! -Dirk Oelmann
Dirk Oelmann comes up with this great flick featuring Berlin's rolling icons and its spot diversity.
The first Hedonskate Session in Germany wasn't widely announced, it was more like a nice local session in the Skatehalle Berlin. The edit looks like they had a good time anyways!

All of these faces have been filmed at Winterclash in February 2011. These times, it was a less personal and more or less wider approach on who to film. Some friends, some strangers, some blading stars, some of my teenage heroes and some others. -Mark Heuss
Check out this X-Mas Jam edit by Dirk Oelmann. Real good work. There is also a neat little report over at Risemagazine.de. There is plenty of German language involved, but also a good amount of pictures that are kind of „international“, you know? Peep both of it!
