Ivan Narez has been a busy man lately. Filming, editing and constructing the deluxe STYDII series along with the upcoming Valo V video is a daunting task but he's up to it not only behind the camera but also in front of it. Take a quick peek at what we have in store for the latest print issue.
We haven't seen much of Intuition Legend Brandon "The Bulldog" Campbell in the blading community over the past few years, so we decided to stop by Hawleywoods Barber shop in sunny Costa Mesa for a tight cut & shave while picking his brain about coming up in the blade game and how he sees it today.
Here's a quick teaser from our latest Be-mag Print issue. We took a moment to speak with Mathias Silhan and discussed his new pro skate, blading in France and what makes him tick.
I'll always remember this call I receive seven years ago. A girl told me that she was flirting with a rollerblader guy named Victor he was supposed to come to our town to visit his cousins see her and hopefully skate. We ended up living together six years later his room was a tent in the middle of my living room… (ask Micheal Garlinghouse or the people from the London time haha). This guy has so much energy you will see him destroy a rib high rail take off his skates drink a bottle of whiskey 5 feet of tequila shots on the bar, make an entire room sing old French songs ,end up in some girls bed he met in front of a night club waking up after 3 hours of sleep to complete a hard day of proletarian labour and he will still make you laugh. He is truly passionate human being and his devotion to skating is outsized. He deserves his place in the rollerblading industry so look forward to meet him!
Three Dutchies recently embarked upon a 6.000 kilometer car road trip from Amsterdam through France up to Malaga in Spain and back to Amsterdam. Gas is pretty expensive these days, and they could have traveled by plane - especially in Europe where there's a high amount of low-cost airlines. But check out what you would miss when you decide to travel by plane instead of traveling in a van. For some of us this is the best thing about rollerblading: Traveling with some of your best friends and your skates! Isn't it?
It's been a little while now, since the seventh edition of the NL Contest took place in the lovely city of Strasbourg. But trying to reminisce everything that went down on this great week-end isn't the hardest part about doing this write-up for Be-Mag. See, I sure remember a few tricks that went down, some mind-blowing stuff even, but you've already seen them all in the various edits that showed up online afterward. That's what the Internet is great for, watching a contest that just took place on the other side of the planet, in a matter of just a few hours. Reading about it, on the other hand...
Our Be-Mag staff videographer Karsten Boysen invaded this year's FISE event stop in Montpellier, France. The new downhill "slopestyle" course was introduced for the first time combined with an intense inofficial rail contest, and partying for four days. Here you can get a small glimpse of what went down in the Rollerblading division at Europe's biggest Extreme Sports Event.
At this year's FISE 2012 in Montpellier, France inline skaters are in for a treat. No longer will they have to share the same course with other action sports, they will have a unique opportunity to ride a new blade specific course similar to slopestyle skiing and snowboarding. Take a sneak peek at the obstacles that some of the world's best pros will tear up this weekend.
A couple of weeks ago we were sent a DVD with the sounding name 'TIME'. Return address was somewhere in France. Unprejudiced as we truly are we popped the video in and... were really impressed. 'TIME' is not only put together really well, it also showcases French blading in a way that got us juiced for more. We recommend this DVD to anyone, but especially to the folks out there that rely on the mistaken interpretation that the French are all about spin to win.
Man, look at the size of that jump. It’s like a super-mega ramp with a gap. 900…900..1080? What is this, freeskiing? Not even close. The danger factor just got amped up one thousand times. As if you didn’t know already from what we’ve shown, if you missed out on Air FISE Marsielle, you made one of the biggest mistakes of your life. If you have been following, you already know. Either way, it means you are thirsty for bangers. So, back to that super-mega ramp. Think you have what it takes? This is a do or die situation. You don’t clear that landing and you’ll be sipping out of a tube for the next year. So, why don’t you just sit back and see what Aragon, Morales, Haffey, Godenaire, and some friends have been up to. Don’t worry, we won't tell anyone about the drool on your keyboard.

You must be starting to think we're retarded by now how we give every edit Guillaume puts out raving reviews saying he is the steeziest mofo out there and the future of the sport etc. And because of that, we'll quote Rollerblade on what they think of him this time. They're basically saying he's the steeziest mofo out there and the future of the sport. Who would have thought...
France is one of the leading markets for Rolling and home to some of the best skaters and most amazing skate spots in the world. We were surprised to learn that no French skater ever received a pro skate from any company. Razors is proud to change this and pay respect where respect is due. And probably no one deserves it more than a skater who's been skating strong for over 15 years, has been admired for his flawless style and did more for the community than many other pro skaters by opening his own distribution company and organizing world class events and tours: Mathias Silhan
Victor Legrand from France reps SSM. Check out his edit which was just released!
