Adrian Deck is way more awesome than Google Translate. The latter never won Winterclash, shredded the hell out of multiple handrails at once, or made the following badass blading edit. Adrian took the time to talk to us about skating, social media, anger, pain and his home country. Thanks a million to Adrian, for taking the time for this interview, for ripping hard and for letting us see him do it. No thanks at all to Google, because me and Adrian made this readable our damn selves.
“It’s alright, just my fingers innit!” That statement came from Jake Ricketts, after falling far and fast to the concrete, breaking two fingers and going back to nail the trick and the AM first place. It pretty much sums up the badassery that rollerblading in general and the UK scene in particular is so proud of, and it was on full display at Laced weekend.
Zagreb has had a long love-hate relationship with rollerblading, ever since 1995. A few generations of skaters have come and gone, dropping rollerblading for more trendy stuff like skateboarding and drugs. There has always been a small group of people that kept things going, with edits, a few homemade videos and contests of all kinds. The first of the monthly rollerblader sessions in the indoor skatepark Supica was a call up, to see who's still alive and well.
I had seen touristbladers before of course. Most of the time you would run into touristbladers at the local skatespots, and every once in a while you could spot a small flock of touristbladers in the wild. But nothing could have prepared me for the amount of touristbladers I witnessed the days leading up to one of the most anticipated real street events ever. Everywhere I went I encountered Mindgame hoodies, $enate backpacks, Medium sweaters and more of the like. Us Damsko Kids had been waiting for this weekend ever since it had become clear that the two grandfathers of real street contests would be working together on what was to become one of the most epic rollerblading weekends ever witnessed by man. This day had finally arrived. With it an unbelievable number of rollerbladers of all ages and nationality. Words fail to describe the awesomeness experienced by yours truly. Therefore I will not even attempt to bore you with more of my insane ramblings, but will let the pictures speak for themselves.

My name is Mikel Artega, I have started skating with Aritz Ortega and he is one of the guys I know best. Since we were kids, his passion has always been skating. Everyday we went rolling from sun up until the sun went down. Even when he was really young, you could notice that he was going to be "someone" because he always stands out over the others. He has the "gift" and a technique that you cannot see in other skaters. He rarely fails, but when he does, he learns from it an keeps on and on. He is a really focused rider.
From the man who brought us Skatepile and Fiziks, blade tech guru Tom Hyser has been working with Rollerblade over the past few years to create his own hardware brand called Blank.

I'll always remember this call I receive seven years ago. A girl told me that she was flirting with a rollerblader guy named Victor he was supposed to come to our town to visit his cousins see her and hopefully skate. We ended up living together six years later his room was a tent in the middle of my living room… (ask Micheal Garlinghouse or the people from the London time haha). This guy has so much energy you will see him destroy a rib high rail take off his skates drink a bottle of whiskey 5 feet of tequila shots on the bar, make an entire room sing old French songs ,end up in some girls bed he met in front of a night club waking up after 3 hours of sleep to complete a hard day of proletarian labour and he will still make you laugh. He is truly passionate human being and his devotion to skating is outsized. He deserves his place in the rollerblading industry so look forward to meet him!
