ift from the Be-Mag msgboard continues his tradition of touring in his lecture-free time with Buddy4, hailing from New Haven to Boston, Bridegport, Brooklyn, Virginia, Greenville, and back to his home state of Florida meeting new and old friends, sleeping through his run at Pow-wow and... having a blast!
After six years of running the Panhandle Pow-Wow, Blake Taylor has figured out how to run things smoothly. I've seen him stress over previous Pow-Wow events, but this year it really went off without a hitch. His only complaint all weekend was: "We really need a water sponsor."
This years best trick at the Panhandle Pow Wow goes to... Mark Wojda! Mark pulled out a huge 540 and took the prize. Congratulations Mark!
Things are getting started here at Pop-Wow VI. We filmed a little 'test run' of some of the new boxes built for the contest, and the park is currently filling up.
Preparing for months for one of the biggest competitions in Florida, Bladesgiving has turned out to be one of the funnest and biggest rollerblading events in the Southern United States along with the Pow-wow. And we are only in our second year! Skaters gathered from all over the country for a chance to rank up the WRS points and take home some cash and the huge trophy. Tim Franken, out of San Diego, Razors rider Wake Schepman, out of PA, Pro SSM rider Joey Chase and Razors flow Sammy Chase, out of Orlando, just to name a few. Also, coming all the way from Canada was our good friend Kevin Lapierre, who hurt his ankle warming up, and had to drop out of the contest. He made that huge trip, and our sympathies are with him, and we hope he recovers very soon.
This must have been the nicest weekend Jacksonville had ever seen. Definitely hot, but perfect skating weather. We arrived at the park around noon on Friday, several hours before the start of the Under 18 division contest. After a few to-do's and touch ups, the Under 18 was under way and went off without a hitch. I remember some tricks from this contest that made me wonder if these kids where really under 18. Such as Zach Pollak's Full Cab Ally Oop Mizou, cess slide in, then his huge disaster back Royale on the cement ledge, or Tyler Huston's Tru Fishbrain. Everyone did an amazing job! Congrats to Zach for taking home first. Later that night, it was straight to the MacBook with Scotty Swemba by my side to work on the first Be-Mag live update.
Check out this edit that got released today. The course seems to be different and unique, so is the skating! Enjoy.
David Johns from Orlando has been jumping around at the Pow-wow exclusively for Be-Mag. And as you see in the picture set below, David is not only the guy that tries to get the best skating shots, he is also deep in finding good and interesting content apart from the skating. More pictures by David on Be-Mag real soon!
Here are some highlights from this years pro competition. Edit by Scotty Swemba and Frankie Terranova.
Here is another photo update including captions provided by David Johns. Congrats to David Sizemore for taking this year's title!
Nice Edit of the POW WOW 2011 which was held at Kona skatepark in Jacksonville / Florida, organized by Blake Taylor.
