This weekend we saw the 11th annual Mile High Battle commence as bladers threw down everything they had. This phrase might seem too commonly used when media outlets in the blade world discuss a competition that went on. But, from this writer’s eyes down to the fingertips that press the insignificant keys on a laptop, this competition was all but common. It was an event that saw the likes of Colorado’s top skaters, visiting competitors Brian Aragon and Jeph Howard, who Razors flew in for this special trip, up-and-comers from surrounding states, and a line-up of spots that seemed peculiar and fitting. Some features that at first glance seemed ordinary for a competition like this spawned the battleground for one of the most heated battles that included a front-flip out of a sweatstance.
Here we are again with another update, this time with photos of the many faces of those in attendance at this year's SDSF Open. Photos by Ryan Loewy
It has now been well over a year and a half of filming for the new Razor video, Game Theory. Over this time period we have literally traveled around the world with some of the best skaters on the planet making what I know will be an epic skate video. Love them or hate them the Razors team is composed of some of the hardest workers and the most unique individuals I’ve ever met, which is why I believe the team is so complete. Everyone has their own style, outlook on life, and a certain way they like to skate but when we all come together everyone is able to connect. What this does is allows everyone to learn from each other and obviously skate better. With the video deadline approaching everyone is anxiously anticipating the release of the video and even though the amount of tricks everyone needs has been met, the whole team is still motivated to go out and skate everyday in hopes of making their section even stronger. Personally, I’ve never spent so long filming for a video and I think that will be shown through the video with such a wide array of tricks, scenery, and style. I’m so happy to be part of this project and I think the video will be something that we can all be proud of.
So today is our last day in New York. Super bummer, we have definitely had a blast. We skated a spot in Brooklyn we had seen from the highway, didn't quite turn out how we had hoped. After hopping some fences, we got two throwaway clip...
Jeph left today, bummer. The airport is near Queens so we met up with Jose Disla and he showed us spots. We started out at this really fun curved 3 step ledge. Jose got trick for TML3, really hyped on that. Jero shot some photos ...
Today was the "Skate with the TML crew at Pier 62 Skatepark" day. We had a mellow morning and hit a street spot on the way to the skatepark. Jeph and Jay got clips on an out rail and Billy attempted to fly. We headed to the skate...
After grabbing bagel sandwiches at a deli we headed to Queens. We drove past a few spots that didn’t click for anyone so we decided to check out the Maloof Money Cup park at Flushing Meadows. The skatepark is pretty sweet, it is ...
Well it was supposed to rain today, so Billy, Blake and I got up at 9 am to get in a few hours before the storm came. We skated near China town for a while, warmed up on a few fun spots. Billy tried to 540 over a ledge about 14 times with a crowd ...
Today we decided to shred Billy’s old stomping grounds, Staten Island. We first cruised to Brooklyn to his favorite bagel shop. When we got the first spot, decided to skip it and continue to the second spot.

Following tradition Dre Powell choose a soft boot design also for his second pro skate. He completely redesigned the skin, chose suede leather and made it an integral part of the boot. The result is a clean look, minimal added weight and long durability.
If you want to know what Jeph Howard is about, watch this section! Jeph doesn't enjoy the normal spots! He always needs some kind of challenge, some kind of scary dangerous aspect that makes the spot or the trick so much harder! Watch this section and ask yourself would you try that? Enjoy...
