Ever since the first rolling videos hit the market in the early '90's, certain releases – such as 'The Hoax' and VG installments, or later published milestones like 'Coup de Tat' and 'Brain Fear Gone' – have changed not only the way people tend to look at and think about the specific scenes and rollerbladers portrayed, but also rolling culture itself. Even though I think it's too early to say what long term effect the release of GC.1 will have on the rolling world it undoubtedly has heightened my expectations regarding filming and video graphic techniques. Adding the extremely high production quality to the skills of one of the best teams in rollerblading yet, the math basically does itself. The Ground Control team video represents the passion and hard work Jon Elliott and his crew have put into their dream, resulting in one of the most spectacular videos to date.
Contributors from Be-Mag come from all over the world. In fact, one of the aspects that make this media outlet so successful is the joint effort given from the rolling world covering every rideable inch of the globe. Aggressive skating, while seemingly non-existent to the pop-culture world, has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few years. The dynamic has changed in so many ways since the early 1990s that each aspect in growth of style, amplitude, technology, culture, etc. has gone through it’s own little piece of the overall revolution.
Are you as excited about the new Ground Control video as we are? You probably should be. For over a decade Ground Control have been leading the pack in frame design and have become a staple in the rollerblading community. In order to commemorate the videos release we’ll be giving away three free copies in a prize raffle!
'Fester' is a video starring Damien Wilson, John Bolino, Casey McFarland, Lyle Shivak, Joey Chase and me, Nick Wood. For this project we did it the old fashion way, by getting a bunch of tough ass bladers together and putting in over a year of blood, sweat and tears. This is a preview of the "Blood, Sweat and Tears" part. I appreciate the newer style and trendy skating these days, but our guys – like I said – are hard core and still put their ass on the line when shooting for a video.
I don't know about the rest of the world but in the US Lyle Shivak is a very respected OG skater. He has paid his dues and contributed many of his own innovations to our sport. For some reason in his +10 years of shooting sections in some of the top videos of the decade he has never been a main stream pro. He laced the first 360° Fish ever in a video in the 2001 Daily Bread video "Under The Influence", And pioneered many more of the now termed "Spin to Win" tricks.
Filth is the best rollerblading DVD I have seen in a very, very, very long time. The Santee crew is a bunch of guys who know how to have a good time. People have been making rollerblading look way to serious. Due to this...

This is the intro for the Fester Team Video. We made it just a Trailer for the whole Video because in real life thats what intro's are. So don't go b*tching about how the tricks here are also in the sections. We had a song picked for the intro for a long time but at the last minute I heard this one and knew it was the right feel for Fester. So, if you like this trailer there is plenty more where that came from, so go out and buy the video. -Nick Wood
