After six years of running the Panhandle Pow-Wow, Blake Taylor has figured out how to run things smoothly. I've seen him stress over previous Pow-Wow events, but this year it really went off without a hitch. His only complaint all weekend was: "We really need a water sponsor."
This years best trick at the Panhandle Pow Wow goes to... Mark Wojda! Mark pulled out a huge 540 and took the prize. Congratulations Mark!
It all started back on April 20, 2000. In a blur, I had way too much fun, but I watched the edit Tri made. I think he won, but it was originally between Louisville and Lexington. I think we all realized that wouldn't work. So, now fast-forward many sessions, parties, and prizes later. Here we are in our 11th year and can now say we are a legit contest. People from all over have been to Lexington or Louisville simply for some bad-ass street skating in some of the spots that we here call home. I can't tell you how to throw a skate contest, because I honestly change the format every year. I test one way and regardless of success or failure, we determine a winner, and everyone either parties or goes home. That is how it has always been, until this year...
The #1 gratification for doing these street comps is recognizing the great talent the rollerblading world has to offer. Achosen-Few likes to personally recognize the talents of each of the top 3 competitors from all the Chosen Few competitions this year. Curtains up for Tyler Hester, Anthony Luna, Russell Day, Cyril Daniel, Daniel Henderson, Lucas Landthaler, Arsenio Patterson, Mark Wojda, Shane Thompson, Eugen Enin, Beat Schillmeier, Iain McLeod, Alex Burston, Michael Braud, Dylan Hopp, Bartek Zgrzeblak, Jon Erickson, Chris Murphy, Jose Henriquez, Dan Mclaren, Robin Weber, Russell Dineen, Tom Burch, Jon Fromm, Bartek Kasprzycki, Pat Curran, Blake Taylor, Cameron Card, Elliot Stevens, Danny Figgz and Stephane DeFreitas.

Keep your eyes peeled for more gold clips coming out of his hands.

Some of you may already have heard about Rollfest – the annual gathering that brings polish rollerbladers together during one summer week at seaside resort Triocity. This year we celebrated the 10th anniversary of this crazy event which was special in every possible way. Since 2009 Rollfest was able to serve as a gathering for even more participants due to the Baltic Games festival, which is treated as the climax of the Rollfest. I can easily say that's the biggest and most prestigious skatepark contest throughout the year. With attendance of bladers as Alex Broskow, Erik Bailey, Fredrik Andersson, Alex Burston, Dre Powell, Nils Jansons, Mark Wojda, Fritz Peitzner, Josh Glowicki, Scott Quinn or Dominik Wagner – just to name a few – you can be sure to expect a show of highest levels!
