Two weeks ago, the Chosen Few 2011 Final took place in Los Angeles, California. Ian McLeod won the comp and Tyler Hester got crowned 2011 Chosen Few Champion. Check this photo-set by Jeremy Condamine and get a feel what went down at the event!
So the ACF Finals this year were about as crazy as it can get. This may be starting to get repetitive but I will say it again because I really do mean it. Chosen Few's main goal is to expose new talents around the world, challenge skaters to push themselves to their full potential and to put on amazing events for all to enjoy! The Chosen Few Finals are now being known as one of the most difficult competitions around. We're not going to lie about that either. Our finals will always be an intense and challenging competition. You may get one easy spot at the beginning but that's about it. No matter what the last obstacle is, it will not be easy. It might be a huge down rail or it might be something random but we will guarantee that it will always have the competitors pushing themselves and skating their hardest.
The #1 gratification for doing these street comps is recognizing the great talent the rollerblading world has to offer. Achosen-Few likes to personally recognize the talents of each of the top 3 competitors from all the Chosen Few competitions this year. If you or your friend finished top 3 at any ACF comp expect to see his name in this article. Curtains up for Tyler Hester, Anthony Luna, Russell Day, Cyril Daniel, Daniel Henderson, Lucas Landthaler, Arsenio Patterson, Mark Wojda, Shane Thompson, Eugen Enin, Beat Schillmeier, Iain McLeod, Alex Burston, Michael Braud, Dylan Hopp, Bartek Zgrzeblak, Jon Erickson, Chris Murphy, Jose Henriquez, Dan Mclaren, Robin Weber, Russell Dineen, Tom Burch, Jon Fromm, Bartek Kasprzycki, Pat Curran, Blake Taylor, Cameron Card, Elliot Stevens, Danny Figgz and Stephane DeFreitas.
When us skaters talk about doing it right or being professional Zach Nelson and Matt Farnworth are people that come up quick under that definition. They are the owners of We Are One skate park. A skate park completely built by them personally for rollerbladers. This indoor park was professionally done. Nice wood, good coping, everything slides for a change even before you wax it, It's like skating woodward. So ACHOSEN-FEW.COM decided to team up with them to do a nice crazy competition the first week they officially opened the park. We decided to make the format a street format considering it is a part of the Chosen Few street comp series.
The Chosen Few Germany competition had a big turn out. We had right around 300+ people there and the competition was a success. Grindhouse was our premium sponsor for this competition. Thanks to them we had a pretty good cash prize for our top places. Chosen Few comps have a few twists that make the competition a little more difficult but also a little more rewarding.
The Swiss comp in Basel was the smallest event I have ever had but the quality of talent was high. One of the important things about these street comps are to do something big for each skate scene. This comp had a small turn out but we had some of our youngest competitors. 3 skaters who were only 15 years old we're skating along side guys like Beat Schillmeier and Diego Guilloud.
The Chosen Few Milton Keynes Street Comp was a great event. We knew rain could be a factor and it was but it didn't matter thanks to the Bus Station Ledges. We did two spots there. 1st spot was the long T ledge. We said the whole place was open to skate for the first round but everyone sort of got stuck on this long ledge. Burston did one of the nicest true top souls ever all the way off the end cab out and Aaron Turner almost laced the 10 pound rebate trick on the ledge. The infamous true fish. With a grab, of course.
Quite honestly The Chosen Few Santee Street Comp was great. Nick Wood and Damien Wilson made sure the BBQ was running at every spot with hot dogs and cheese burgers on deck. Over $200 of BBQ was sold and that money went to best trick at all the spots. The BBQ was something that added a little extra vibe to the competition. Great skating, great food, great people, Santee style. So thank you for lugging that thing around all day. We ended up with close to 200 people and 40 competitors. The first spot was the famous Chicano Park line ledges.
First Sundays was awesome as usual, we had over 50 people at this session come out and enjoy a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon at the new Lincoln Skate Plaza. We had people like Kruise Sapstein, Rob G, Anthony Williams, Russell Day, Chris Calkins, Rudy Avila, of course Jeremy Soderburg who is one of the organizers and a ton of other rippers. The skate park has such a nice flow to it and I spent most of my time on skating the nice small p-rail which was a lot fun for everyone. We had a 50 person p-rail session going on at one point during the day.
We have so many skate parks in LA county. We also have a huge blade scene that is growing faster than ever. With those two things in mind Jonathan Labez, Jeremy Soderburg and myself, Quinn Feldman, decided to put together "First Sunday Sessions." So every first Sunday of every month we pick a skate park and organize a giant session.
This edit was put together in record time with the help of contributed footage from USD riders all around the world as a gift to the heads that have supported USD from 97’ till Infinity. Happy New Years from USD. It’s a celebration bitches.
I have spent 2 and a half years working on this on and off. I thought it was going to be my last standard definition video but because of serious injuries I had to mix it up a bit. I wanted to release it before the new year and start fresh for 2012. -Quinn Feldman
This is the Bulldog's Day in the life which A Chosen Few produced a little over a year ago. What a day it was. If you enjoy the epic, scum bag, laid back, personality that made "The BCAM" into the legend he is, then sit back and enjoy!
This edit was made commemorating my section in the Senate team video - Day of the Rope, that was made about 15 years ago. I thought it would be cool to use the same song that Arlo chose for me back then. I've had the greatest times of my life blading, and plan to roll for as long as the body can handle. -Alex Miranda
Check this out, another Rock Killers b roll edit by Alejoh Candelo. This is litteraly a killer edit! Filmed by Alejoh Candelo, Colin Mcleod, Quinn Feldman and Winston Wardwell with a Canon 60D and a HD flipcam.
The Chosen Few Street Comp Series was crazy this year. We organized 9 competitions with local organizers throughout the world and added another 3 events to the series. This all built up to the Chosen Few Finals. Creating an amazing event for all to enjoy is what we love to do. -Quinn Feldman
Get stoked up for the AChosen-Few finals. These competitions always promise to be some of the best around and never let us down. This is where the boys fade and the men shine.
Just in case you missed out on some ill hammers you can get a quick recap here. Freshies for the homies.
Rollers in Los Angeles meet up on Sundays every once in a while to have a good session. There are no excuses accepted: Even though you might have a hang over from the day before, you have to come and bust it out. This month's first Sunday session took place deep in Los Angeles in the infamous town of Compton and everyone ripped it up - even though it was a chilled "sunday".
Blood, sweat and tears - Winston invested all for his 'A Chosen Few' section. Here is a promo teaser of his full section which will be releaesed soon. Another true streetskater is coming to your screen soon.
