Blading needs more shops. When's the last time you tried on a pair of skates at an actual skate shop? Yes, not many have the opportunity to pick up their goods like that. But it isn't only a matter of over-the-counter experience that may (or may not) include professional advice on what to get; local shops literally "make" scenes. This is only one of the topics that are discussed in this Company Profile with Roc City Skates out of Rochester, NY. Others being dedication and love for the sport, entrepreneurship, permits and a certain unnamed jerk. Read on.
Day 3 (final day) was spent driving about an hour up to Xtreme Wheels in Buffalo NY, then the guys skating their asses off for the 3rd consecutive day. It was crazy to see how hard these guys skated on the last day, after skating non stop the 2 days prior, AND going out to the bars at night (Pat's bday at Lux was an extra special night for him HAHA!).
4 AM… Saturday morning… I woke up and drove to Rochester, NY. I took the trip to meet up with videographer Jason Staine and the Tri-State Skate Team. After a five and a a half hour drive we made it to Roc City, got our skate pants on and headed to the streets.
Dan Barnes has been holding it down for Buffalo and Upstate New York for years now. Dan isn't one to seek the spotlight, but those who know Dan know his smoooooth skating style and laid back personality. He's finally coming into some of the attention he deserves having recently been picked up by Razors. Dan and Nick DeMarchi worked hard on this interview capturing street skating pics all around Buffalo as soon as the snow started to melt. Enjoy this long overdue profile on Dan Barnes!
I recently realized that, despite now riding flow for USD, Tim has never had a major profile done and that the great photos of his skating on his Facebook haven't been published.... So it seemed time to do something about that.
Grant Hazelton, Mike Torres, Nate Hall, Chris Py, Dave Poe, Nick Demarchi, Ricky Coster, Steve Bruning, Mike Lanthier, Malik Glenn, & Stefan Brandow have just been featured in this sweet edit by Ricky Coster for ROCcitySkates. Not sure how they are related to the shop but who cares about stuff like that when there is skating this good?
The past two years have been filled with blading, old friends, new friends, booze, babes, stoops, limousines, cacti, new cities, raging, nogrinding, airplanes, and filming. In these two years we’ve compiled quite a bit of footage. Some of it has been seen, most of it has not. So it’s about time we make an ongoing video series to get that footage out there, you know… Enjoy Tim Adams skating from the 2009-2010 era!
Rochester Action Sports Park holds Thursday night rollerblading only sessions, and every week there's 30-40 bladers skating their asses off.
This is day one of the Tri-State Skate Weekend Tour of Rochester and Buffalo. We spent a solid 6 hours driving north to Rochester. "Crazy" Pat is always the entertainer earning his mark as being the center of attention during our trip. When we arr...
