Last month, Beau Cottington released his fabled OG Edit. It included contributed footage from 47 skaters around the world. It included legends from blading's infancy – many of whom are major parts of the industry – and those who may not put on their skates as much as they used to, but still enjoy it as much as Day 1.
Preparing for months for one of the biggest competitions in Florida, Bladesgiving has turned out to be one of the funnest and biggest rollerblading events in the Southern United States along with the Pow-wow. And we are only in our second year! Skaters gathered from all over the country for a chance to rank up the WRS points and take home some cash and the huge trophy. Tim Franken, out of San Diego, Razors rider Wake Schepman, out of PA, Pro SSM rider Joey Chase and Razors flow Sammy Chase, out of Orlando, just to name a few. Also, coming all the way from Canada was our good friend Kevin Lapierre, who hurt his ankle warming up, and had to drop out of the contest. He made that huge trip, and our sympathies are with him, and we hope he recovers very soon.
We just received this nice video piece coming straight from the Rolling mecca San Diego featuring Remz' upcoming amateur Russell Day at the Razors warehouse. If you know which side is switch, please post it in the comments. Thanks to Erick Rodriguez for arranging, filming and editing this video.
Well, Saturday October 2nd was the day of the 4th Chosen Few Street Comp this year, and it was a crazy one to say the least. I love throwing competitions in new areas and San Diego has been a legendary place to skate for so many years and I wanted to add to its reputation.
Even though I had lived in Solana beach, the first year I moved to San Diego back in 2003 I never knew about this school. I found this school just a few weeks ago and just started messing around on the ledge to see what I could do. Then I started looking at other aspects of the spot like the huge roots coming out of the ground in the center of the planter and the side ledge. The rails at the entrance of the school did not have much runway but they were still skate able too. I had my tricks all planned out and wanted to start filming the next day.
We're here at the SDSF Open covering all that is to go down. We were able to meet up with Geoff Acers and ask him a few questions about the SDSF shop as well as the Open and how it came to fruition. Photos by Ryan Loewy and Jeff Lahatt, video by S...
I met up with Winston Wardwell on a hot wednesday afternoon in june to film. We had a couple spots in mind for the edit but everywere we went it was just too hot. We took the hour drive down to visit SDSF skate shop and then we made our way to Sunshine distribution. Geoff Acers was kind enough to let us in to the skate park were it just kinda of happened and we had our footage. Winston was talking about true top souling the darkside of ledge the moment we got in there. It turned out be a great day. Thanks be mag! - Steve Henry (editor)
Recently a recent guest of our city ran an article entitled “San Diego Scene Report” that ruffled a few feathers around here. His article featured very few of the skaters, industry and importance that san diego has in rollerblading. I’ve lived here my whole life and have been a part of the SD blade scene for over 15 years. So when the boys over here asked me to do the real scene report, I thought that I could do a little better, and pay some tribute to perhaps the most important city in our sport.
Some of rollerblading's biggest names, brands and personalities live in and around San Diego; wonder what all the hype is about? Keep reading...

Hand built skate obstacles in a large ditch area that is almost never a bust.
Most famous trick done here was done by Eric Schrijn at the end of the Escozoo section of VG12 Battle my Crew. If you don't know what Im talking about here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRQEZCtuNtk
The first time I remember seeing this epic low rail was when Roadhouse did a 270 backroyale on it in VG4. Since that time it has been in most if not all San Diego sections or videos. The dick got cut off a few years back and since then if we are ever in Chula Vista this is the warm up spot. This rail is so low that it can be tough to judge but once you skate it you will agree that it is a fun legendary spot.
Never been and it costs money but it is the only indoor park in San Diego
little skate park but there is a rail in the back with a bank that has been in a few videos.
