'The Breakfast Club' is the newest video project out of the Netherlands, aka Holland, or for some people just Amsterdam! That is precisely where the maker of this project is from. We are speaking of Cavin Brinkmann, supported by his sidekick, the no less infamous dog Bobby! Cavin is the dude that you see dancing in those crazy Dutch edits. Do not get the wrong idea though, Cavin is a guy that puts all his energy into what he does. Living in Amsterdam has not made him a drug addict that would abandon skating for a high – skating and filming skating is his high!
Timmy van Rixtel and Jeroen Wullems got 100 € for a skate demo and decided to spend the money going on a small tour through the Netherlands. With no plan where to go they managed to find lots of new spots and had lots of fun. Sleeping in the car and being hungry was their daily routine. They asked people for money and sold old stuff. That's how they survived.
As of today, the name 'Breakfast Club' will no longer only remind us of the essential 1985 movie, revolving around five students discovering the meaning of life after school hours. Dutch skate pioneer Cavin Brinkman, responsible for countless captures of the tricks from every Dutchie to ever touch a pair of skates, such as Tyron Ballentine, Adil Farhouni and Sven Boekhorst, has found himself in the middle of his newest, highly anticipated project. His new skate film will carry the same title as his favorite movie, 'The Breakfast Club'. Set for a release in the beginning of next year, Cavin's new film will not be just another run-of-the-mill hour filled with hazardous hammer and death-defying spins. Instead, the members of the New Breakfast Club will simply amaze their fellow skaters and fans with their inspiring creativity, attention for detail and raw Dutch style. We spoke to Mr. Brinkman himself to talk about what we can all expect from this project.
Winterclash 2010 is coming up fast. Those of you that have a ticket will most likely count the days. Jojo had some important meetings in Eindhoven last week and we met up with him at this year's venue to ask him a few questions about the Winterclash 2011. Bart Laubsch from Berlin accompanied Jojo on his short trip to Eindhoven and filmed him flowing through the venue. Jojo's good friend and Rollerblade Pro Sven Boekhorst also showed up to join the session. Enjoy!
»We woke up early and drove to Rotterdam Skateland. I spoke with the owners of the park and they were willing to let us skate the park before it opened. Which was cool because we had the whole park on our own for 7 skaters. Dick Heerkens and Adil Farhouni also joined the session.«
