Blade Check: Jon Fromm

Jon Fromm recently went on a little trip to Australia, Asia and Europe. Around four months on the road, all by himself, connecting with the local scenes and exploring new places every day. Without blading he most probably would have never been able to see all these places and meet all those people on his way. We took a look at his current ride and asked him a few questions about his setups in general.

Describe your personal blade set up:
I just got the Razors SL 2. I really dig the white look. All clean and fresh! (for now haha). Just recently started skating GC frames. Love the look and solidity of the FLT 3 frames. Sic Urethane is my new wheel sponsor, and they hold up amazing. Nothing better than a fresh pair!

What parts do you wear through the quickest:
It depends. It usually is the frames or my soul plates. So when I change one, I usually change the other as well because its on the brink of being pretty thrashed.

What part do you break most often:
Buckles….All the time

Which parts are you paranoid about breaking:
Not really paranoid about anything breaking to be honest. Mostly worry when I rip the skins off the SL boots, I hate ripped up looking skates…I like them to be slim and sleek! haha

What spares/tools do you keep in your backpack:
Allen Key always, and Super glue…to fix rips or tears if we have a skinned boot

Where do your parts go once you are done with them?
I have this policy with stuff I’m given to by a sponsor. I always try to pass things down to people who need it or are less fortunate then I am. I am blessed to have sponsors that hook me up. So its only fair to pass things down to someone who needs them, or maybe to someone I’m getting into blading!

Flat or Freestyle:
I guess freestyle? I have UHMW antis in the middle.

Anything you plan to change on you current setup?
When the white begins to get a little old on the skates, I’m gonna go to an all black soulplate and frame setup…I really like that combo.

Do you skate different setups for different terrain?
I skate my same skates park and street. I have a pair of powerblade skates. I usually just put my powerblades on my old skates when I get new ones. So right now my powerblade frames are on my Aragon 6’s.

What was your very first skate setup?
K2 80 mini’s

What was the best setup you’ve had to date?
Hmmm, it’s hard to say. I can’t recall a setup that has made me skate significantly better than others. I’ve been riding for Razors for 5 years, and the SL boot has been the same strong, awesome boot on every skate. I guess I rate skates on the experiences I’ve had with them (travels, certain spots, certain tricks). I guess I’m gonna have to say my Aragon 6 setup over the summer. I had a chance to travel the world with those, and they saw a lot of places. Even Summerclash in Germany!

Could you describe your dream setup?
I’ve always wanted an all black Razors skate, with dark grey logos, and then all white souls and frames. Also I would love to have 59 mm rounded wheels. That setup would be absolutely perfect!
