The blading resurgence is in full swing and with all of the rejuvenated energy flying around there also comes with it some incredible new products from some of blading’s longest running and most dedicated brands as well as new brands that are creating ground breaking products to fit all of your blading desires.
So we have decided to highlight some of our industries hot new items in our newest feature “Nuts and Bolts”. We will be summarizing the latest products within the blading world and give you a quick and easily digestible source to view the freshest products from all corners of the blading world from the last week.
To start this week’s article, we want to highlight the new “RL1” liner from one of blading’s longest running and most dedicated brands, Roces Skates. The “RL1” liner is a sleek, high-end liner that has many unique features such as a creative lacing system that looks to prevent the dreaded heel lift that is so prevalent within certain skate models. With the lack of quality skate liners available these days, the “RL1” is a welcome addition to the market and looks to give the Intuition liner a run for it’s money as far as high end liners are concerned. More info on the “RL1” liners will hopefully be provided soon.
The Compass brand looks to be taking a dip into the inline skating frame market with a new big wheel UFS frame option in two different height options, a 72mm version and also a 80mm version. Compass owner Lawrence Ingraham had this to say about what prompted Compass to develop a new big wheeled frame.
“We had tested a bunch of different frames on the market and we realized really quickly that the bigger you get, the more slop and the more support you need.”
The frames are made with the same glass-filled nylon material that is used within the 50/50 Balance frames, so if you are a fan of the solid and rigid construction of the 50/50 frames, but are looking for something to fit your powerblading desires, than the Compass frames should suit your big wheeling needs. The frames are still in development but we should hopefully have more info on them soon.
The Konjure wheel brand has been making waves lately with tons of new products as well as some formidable team additions in the form of Chad Hornish, CoCo Sanchez and Yandriel Silverio. This week Konjure also announced their newest offering in the form of their white on white “Basik” round profile 60mm 91A white wheel. The wheels are going to be up for pre-order next week so hit up www.konjurebrand.com to secure yourself a set.
The popular U.K brand MUZZLE have just dropped an interesting collaboration with the boys over at Mushroom Blading. The brands have released their new “Hot Dog Godz” wheels which are an oddly sized 60.01 mm, which they state the extra 0.1mm “helps to maintain high speeds.” But what else would you expect from the always cheeky brands? Included with each purchase is a mini- mag which was designed by the guys at Mushroom Blading and produced by MUZZLE. This release is extremely limited so act fast if you want some.
Another wheel brand by the name of Chroma has entered the blading arena and their first professional has been announced as the people’s champ, Stefan Brandow. The brand has just released some pictures of Stefan’s wheels, which are a popular 60mm size with a rounded profile and feature a solid 90a hardness for all a great all- around skating experience. The wheels also come with some amazing custom designed packaging which was created by Mr. Jeremy Beightol.
And we can’t forget that USD has just released it’s newest edition of it’s popular Aeon models and U.K legend Nick Lomax chose an amazing hunter green colorway for his newest pro model and it looks absolutely gorgeous in pictures and even better in person!
USD also released it’s fourth edition of their popular Sway models in an all white color combo. The Sways have become quite a popular price point skate the last few years and for good reason, the skates are incredibly responsive, sleek and also won’t break your bank account in the process.
Both the Nick Lomax & Sway IV models are in shops as we speak so be sure to pick up a pair before they are gone!
Brian “BFree” Freeman is one of the most charismatic and enduring characters within inline skating and BFree can now add author to his long list of accomplishments. Brian has just released his first kid’s book titled “When Jimmi Skates”.
Here is a quick summary of the book:
“Meet Jimmi, a young kid with a BIG imagination. When Jimmi skates, a world of new possibilities become real. He can jump, he can fly, he can dive. Jimmi shows us the power (that we all possess) of dreaming and positivity. A fun story that encourages young ones to read, stay active, and stay thinking.”
So be sure to support one of the most hard working individuals within our industry and pick up a copy of “When Jimmi Skates”, which is available in paperback, hardback and digital formats as well.
Cavin Brinkman has dropped some sweet looking Plastic Pushers hoodies just in time for winter (depending upon your location that is). So be sure to pick up one up and stay nice and cozy this season while re-watching Plastic Pushers in preparation for their much anticipated sequel.
Jeremy Beightol has re-released some of his classic shirt designs from the iconic wheel brand, 4×4, and are not taking pre-orders which are limited to only 50 pieces each so you better get them now while you can because they will likely never be printed again.
