The incomparable Dom West has just released his incredible new documentary which showcases the beautiful inline skating culture in West Africa, titled “Streets of Lagos“, which follows the tight knit crew of rollerbladers that live in Lagos, Nigeria.
“Streets of Lagos” is narrated by the amazing up-and-coming skater from Lagos, Daniel Ogbogu, who tells of his daily life and details the struggles that arise living in one of the toughest areas in the world. Daniel is also joined by the always inspiring Brian “BFree” Freeman, who imparts his wisdom to the youth of Lagos and gives them a sense that they are a part of a huge global community of skaters that are there to support them and foster their development.
Dom accurately captures the grim reality that the skaters are faced with everyday in pursuing their passions as well as the purity of the skaters within Lagos’ Shinobi Blade Clan. “Streets of Lagos” is a compelling film that shows the transformative power of inline skating and how it can elevate individuals from all walks of life and cultures and will likely leave you feeling extremely proud to be a part of this overwhelmingly supportive community of ours. So great job Dom, Brian and Daniel for creating such a genuinely powerful film. You all out did yourself! Also much respect to the Shinobi Blade Clan for your inspiring passion as well.
