Perspectives on Winterclash 2012: Albert Hooi

Photography by Albert Hooi & Donal Glackin

Are you coming to Winterclash? If not, why?

No, not going this year unfortunately. I was going to but I have to work and thought there probably isn’t much point as all I did last year was got drunk and stoned. It’s an amazing event though, so great to see everyone there! I am jealous of those going!

What set up are you going bring to Winterclash?

If I was going I would most likely skate my Don Bambricks with Powerblade frames, they are addictive!

What are you looking forward to the most?

Watching the videos online and hearing all the stories from my friends when they get back. Watch out, there’s gonna be a crazy Irish contingent there this year! Look out for a guy called Gar Moore!

Do you compete? No matter if yes or no, tell us why you do or don’t.

I have done in the past but find it a bit overwhelming these days. I would rather chill and skate with my buddies than try to kill myself and get judged for it. Sign of getting old, I think!

What was your coolest personal Winterclash moment?

Hanging out with all my friends at the after party in 2009. We were all locked, especially Glack, he was hilarious! He got a photo with every pro in the building and swapped hats with Dre Powell! Good times!
