What happened to the build quality of skates

I recently was lucky enough to get some near-mint Remz OS2's off ebay (score) that came with the original Jug V-Cut liner and I couldn't believe it. The quality of that liner compared to the liners of today, its like comparing beautiful leather Berluti dress shoes to Poundland's finest trainers. What on earth happened?

I just got some Remz HR2's and the liners... they fit well with the skate and I love the skate (a lot) but they feel like plastic and the soft material for the inside is like nylon. Even the skin on the skates feel like shit compared to my 06 01's. Every time a new skate is released, everything is always "upgraded"... but its not. I fell quite lightly on some asphalt just rolling around where I live and it completely destroyed the skin around the cuff, scraped a huge hole the "high-resilience" skin only stopped by the inner-construction plastic stuff. High-resilience my arse.

Amigo, the manufacturing's all completely disposable by design cept for maybe some adapt things and homebrew gear?. I wonder if Kato would handmake a pair of Remedyz by request today? $1500-2000/pair?

People do not want to pay a lot and quality has it's price. Companys that want to sell a lot, produce cheaply.
On the other side, its hard to reach quality if you feel the need to make 1200 different skates (coughpowerslidecough)

you get what you pay for.

If you want quality, try Adapts, or go back to Salomon.
Or make your own stuff. But kill the industry doing that, apparently.

Profit margin > every single other concern. Honestly, if you think Remz fell off, don't put on reign liner. I'm holding my breath that the new THEM skates will have a solid design, but who knows.

This sums up it all really. The remz 06 02's was the last of the quality remz. Have you felt how well made the 03's are? Plush, hard wearing and ACTUALLY COMFORTABLE. My god man I tried on the Razors shift, Them's, RB NJ, Roces (fucking joke), and basically every other brand they had at Loco apart from the Gawds. It was like wearing cloggs for fucks sake, especially the Shifts and the Roces. How do people skate them? They are so amazingly uncomfortable and non-ergonomic. I see all these people so hyped for the new whatever skates and I cannot understand. Kato seems to be the only guy that cares about the design of skates anymore, and that was 2 years ago now.

I also tried all the liners they had including the new Reigns and I was sad. Just sad. They all were horrendous. Looked horrible and felt horrible. I can give some kudos that the new Remz liner is actually comfortable.

I bought OS 2's when they first came out. Worst skates I've ever had the displeasure of riding. The liners were shit. You're on crack.

Wait really? Ok maybe I am on crack because those liners are bliss on my feet. What was so bad about them in your opinion? Genuinely curious, I could be looking at this with rose tinted glasses here.

yeah its common. Real Remz died after 2007, current skate called Remz is just the name. like everything in recent times. I`ve just dusted off the box of Julio Psirus skates (brand new) - it`s like from another world, real leather insole, every rivet is well hidden, protected - it would be 500 EUR + if released today...

They had no discernible shape and the tongue would always slip out. It was like someone stuffed cotton balls at random into the liner and crossed their fingers. There was no ergonomic sense whatsoever imo.

                      I agree.

I Actually had hit sunshine up way back for some Haffey 2 White liners when i got my 09Ones because the liner was so miserable. Night and Day difference for the product quality, The 090ne skins and shredded so quickly and I hear the same about the "new" Black and Grey HR's.

The Shifts look so off as a far as shape- doesn't look like it works well, but I've heard good reviews.

Thinking of quality always brings me back to the first line of TRS Details, Access, and Estilo's- The quality on those skates, liners, parts was amazing. Could beat the hell out of them and they'd just smile back. Coolmax liners and the footbeds were proper.

Liners these days- I feel like Intuition is the only way to go if you want quality.

Oh man, TRS skates were absolute tanks and I dont think anyone could disagree with that. If they werent so damn stiff, I would skate my TRS Morales but I cant get enough of the softness and flexiness of remz. I have some 06 01s and the skin on those are significantly tougher than the "high resilience" skin shit.

Does anyone know any way to make the TRS skates less stiff?

https://ibb.co/0MwWk4Y they feel like tanks, but man, size is perfect (shell was EU 42-43) and I feel like I can jump of roofs with them and would be completely OK.

I'm an ardent supporter of integrated liners, though I haven't skated the Intuitions or Second Skins yet. Only liner I can really tolerate is Salomon.

Interesting. I've never seen that bs plate on the Psirus before, nor that wrap around liner.

Not sure if it's the angle, but man those did a great job of the illusion that the top was soft/leather (to my eyes at least in this pic). I remember trying on a friend's Psirus back in the day. Felt like you could cess slide anything in them.

Needs more tongues, 2 or 3 at least...
