SO, EVERYONE’S HERE IN DETROIT FOR BITTER COLD NOW?

Yeah, well everyone except for the Europe guys – Roman’s flight got cancelled because of the snow storm in New York. Anything coming into NYC from Europe got cancelled so not everyone could make it. Murda is still on the way, and pretty much everyone else is here!

YOU’VE GOT A LOT IN THE WORKS IN TERMS OF COOL NEW PRODUCTS (STILL UNDER WRAPS), ETC., BUT WHAT’S IN STORE FOR THE RAZORS TEAM THIS YEAR?

Well, we really want to be a lot more active tour wise – promoting all our riders, especially our ams. We have sponsored riders all over the world and I’m always just blown away when I see edits of our riders!

One of the trends in rollerblading that’s been a problem is that we don’t have as many independent videos anymore, like VG back in the day. We’re missing that and how that exposed a lot of up-and-coming ams. We have so many amazing riders and we have to help them get promoted; so we’re intentionally going to tour more and help them get more exposure.

SO, HOW DO YOU APPROACH SPONSORING POTENTIAL RIDERS? DO YOU FIND THEM? DO THEY FIND YOU? BOTH?

There are always a lot of great undiscovered rollerbladers out there and our Razor’s staff is always on the lookout. We want to help work with ams to help them get visible and to fill our am slots, but for us it’s more than just being really good. That’s a prerequisite; obviously, you have to be amazing… but you also have to be proactive at promoting yourself, have a good attitude. It really comes down to “what will you do with yourself?” If you show me that you’re serious about skating, that you can handle being visible, can tour – than we’ll work with you. So we’re always looking for new talent, and we see who approaches us; in the end though it’s our current team that actually decides who is on the team.

OBVIOUSLY, EVERYTHING ISN’T CONFIRMED YET, BUT WHERE ARE YOU GUYS PLANNING TO GO ON TOUR SO FAR IN 2010?

So far we’re going to do something around the PowWow, the Chaz Sands Invitational, and the FISE comp.

THANKS, ANDY!
