NYC Street Invite: Final Competitors List & Wildcard Nominations

The time has come and the final competitor list for the 2011 NYC Street Invitational is finished. We have taken our time choosing the absolute best street skaters from all over the world to bring to New York City and we think we have a pretty amazing competitor list put together. Now onto those Wild Card spots that we have promised: Due to the nature of the competition we will not have time for a qualifications or Amateur competition. Our main priority is to give those invited to the event every opportunity to shred what we will be putting in front of them. We will be accepting suggestions for the 5 remaining Wild Card spots for the NYC Street Invitational. The top 5 submitted bladers will be invited to the competition. One submission per person so choose wisely. ... Read More...

March Madness 2011 Photography by Gee Lee

This year I attended the March madness 2011 at Shield Skatepark in Flemington, NJ where the only thing that came to mind was "Go big or go home". With every pressure of getting to the top and keeping your spot for the ultimate WRS this year, there was no lack of disappointments. Everyone from beginners to advance showed massive innovations that built this sports to where we are today.... Read More...

March Madness at Shields Skatepark

Over the past couple of years, the Tri-State Area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) has lost too many indoor skate parks to count. From Hackettstown in New Jersey to the infamous Academy Skate Park in Connecticut; we have lost too many indoor parks due to lack of funding and support. We have endorsed endless hours of blading and hard earned cash to spend late sunday nights lacing tricks.  Kids grow up in these parks and inevitably they have to watch the place they were raised in get torn down to the ground.... MTL Classic 2010 live-update #4: Pro results

There were less Pro Skaters than last year but the level was insane and the crowd didn't believe what they saw!!! The final (I mean the warrior heat): 5 guys in the skate park for 15-20 minutes + 5 minutes more, asked by the crowd. Even if Franco was close to break his arm and his back on a fall, he skated like a beast, throwing his body all over the park, doing its toe grind and strong lines. The two frenchies - as professional as usual - killed the park with their own personal style: Adrien doing switch ups and strong grinds around, Roman with so much ease, spinning hard and high. Jerry Butler showed that he deserved to be a real pro, this guy originally from Cleveland but living in Montreal for 4 years now showed everyone that he was at home. Finally, what can I say about Haffey except that he did few tricks to warm up and that he went eat to come back later to land the strongest trick ever laced in this park. Keep an eye on be-mag and wait for the video edit! - Guillaume ... Read More...
