The Wheel Deal

One Day In Kuala Lumpur with Nik Suhaili

Nik has been a big part of my beginnings in skating, him amongst other guys from the International School in Geneva, Switzerland...were the only young riders in Geneva. I didn't hang out much with the older skaters because I was kinda of a dickhead, but we all grow up and look back laughing at how stupid we were....anyway. Nik is a truly good friend, and I really miss the time we spent in Geneva, skating, talking shit, being young and having fun...he even made it to the same public school as I a few years later, and a couple before he moved back to Malaysia. I've seen him again of course, shortly, during comps, and I'm just glad he kept on rolling and I consider him as one of the sickest skaters in south east asia region! - Nicolas Schopfer... Blast from the Past: Matteo Attanasio

I can’t really remember how long we know each other... But at the time we first met, Matteo was the only German skater with good style. Sorry, that's how it was. He has always been a soul skater. And a playboy on wheels. He wanted to end his pro career at a very young age to skate just for the fun of it. He wanted to have sessions and to travel without any obligations to skate at a contest. Crazy ass dreamer, you say? But guess what: that is what he did! And until now he remains as the first of a complete generation of soul skaters I have met. He is now working on putting this into picture.... Read More...

BuddyTour 2010

What follows is excerpts from a 30 page essay I wrote about Ian's and my mini-tour in December 2010. I've excluded some important, memorable events for brevity's sake involving Toy Story 3, a penis-obsessed Olympic athlete, Mike Lilly, and somebody pepper-spraying a sandwich. It is partly about rollerblading, but mostly a journal I kept while I was traveling. There are a few manipulations of time, but nothing drastic. Some paragraphs were literally copied and pasted out of context so it's not the most cohesive, fluent writing style. Deal with it. ... Read More...

Up and comers: Erik Foster Burrow

In between filming for Picture Me Rolling and working two jobs, Erik Foster Burrow managed to pump out some high-quality clips for this short edit. We only went out filming for a short time on three separate occasions and in one night, accompanied each with a six-pack of Old Mill, threw together this little edit. Erik is the real deal. Bar none, he is the most dedicated rollerblader I know, he loves that shit.... Read More...

Oli Benet: One Minute One Spot

Oli Benet is one of those rare occurrences- a rollerblader born with a business brain. It takes a particular strength of character to manage a skate team- making business decisions affecting a group of friends is never an enviable task. Most who try it because it sounds cool are destined to fail, yet Oli has always found a way to make it work for him. He is an asset to Powerslide; blessed with impeccable, solid style and a very English sense of humour, he has brought fresh ideas to fruition while being one of the major promoters of rollerblading to a mass market. He also has rather questionable taste in hairstyles, but I could never hold that against him.... Read More...

Ramelle Knight: One Minute, One Spot

New York has its milestones when it comes to street spots that every NY roller has been to at least once in their time. The Bronx is full of street spots, but there are not many that have high recognition. Ring Rails is a very well known spot in which was featured in many NY skate Video's including several B Unique videos, Nature Skate Video and many more.... Read More...

We're always searching for articles to showcase the contributions that people are making for the rollerblading industry from the grassroots level. There are so many people offering so much to the industry who go unnoticed or do not get nearly as much attention as they deserve. These people are the ones responsible for spreading rollerblading to new generations and maintaining the involvement of those already participating while creating a strong network allowing the industry to be more than just a temporary flash in the “extreme sports” timeline. Here is the story of Botique Lylac, The Montreal Classic, Nimh VS Canadian Customs, The Taz Project, and Mathieu Ledoux... ... Read More...
